Campaign Values

My campaign is all about staying true to who I am while honoring the tough experiences I've lived through and the amazing people who supported me along the way.

I believe that effective leadership is not only being tested through hardship and making tough decisions, but also retaining kindness, empathy, and the wisdom of knowing that it takes community effort to bring about change.

Integrity

I believe that a person's word is the most valuable thing they have. It is incredibly hard, if not impossible, to regain trust once it has been broken.

You lose respect, credibility, and other precious things if you don't keep your word or present yourself dishonestly.

As such, I hold myself and others on my campaign to high standards - we treat others with dignity, kindness, respect and never make promises we know we can't feasibly deliver.

Voters deserve honesty, not the same lies we're used to hearing from politicians to "earn" a vote!

Pro-Democracy & Allyship

If you remember anything from this campaign, please remember this: it is that we are deeply committed to the individual rights that are set forth in the U.S. Constitution and believe in upholding the Rule of Law.

Individual rights to choose how to live are what makes America so unique and a special place to live.

However, we also know that our country still has potential to be even better.

A few of the many things I support:

The right to choose abortive healthcare

Protesting
Vaccines and accessible healthcare

Accessible housing

2nd Amendment rights

Our veterans

   BIPOC communities

LGBTQ+ rights

Quality education for all children

Due Process

Treating disabled people with dignity
Anti-Discrimination

Responsibility

Being a leader isn't a task for just anyone.

It takes a lot of humility, self-reflection, and taking responsibility: for yourself, for your team, and for those who choose you to represent them.

Whenever I led technical operational programs to make sure our troops had what they needed to carry out their objectives, there was no room for blaming others.

I learned that I needed to make tough decisions and be responsible for the consequences of those decisions.

A leader is not afraid to make the decisions others won't, and is also not afraid to take responsibility for the decision - good or bad.

Community

Real, meaningful, lasting change cannot occur in a silo - and it cannot come from one person alone.

As Arnold Schwarzenegger, my favorite 80s action star says, "There are no 'self-made men.'" I made the decision to run for City Council as a result of many people along the way encouraging me, supporting me, and teaching me about what it truly means to serve others.

I wouldn't have made this decision without the Fort Collins community lifting me up when I needed it in my darkest times or celebrating me during the brightest.

In my 7 years of living here, I've come to see what makes Fort Collins a place of friendship and belonging. But perhaps most importantly, a seedbed for leading change that will put us in the history books for having the courage to always try.

I'd love for you to join me on that journey, too.
